A Snowy Photo Shoot

5/12/2021

This past Sunday I went back to the Paradise area of Mount Rainier National Park with a tough objective.  But when I got out there, I just wasn't feeling it.  So I changed plans, wandered around, and practiced my photography instead!
So often I'm out for a challenge - moving fast, far, and focused.  But sometimes it is nice to move slow, wander with no objective, and enjoy the scenery around you.  This day was not what I had planned, but it turned out to be just what I needed.  It was Mother's Day so I even video chatted with my mom for a few minutes with the mountain backdrop - #bestmother'sdaycard!

The Paradise area is melting out now. But it still gets the occasional overnight snow dusting too.  A fresh 2 inches of snow over the prior 24 hours wiped out almost all prior boot path for my visit on Sunday.  The untouched, fluffy powder was so pristine.  I cut my own tracks across the low lying slopes and got a few cool shots in the process.  Check out the pictures and videos below!
