The North Cascades mountain range is a section of the larger Cascade Range in western North America. The North Cascades section runs from Washington up through British Columbia, Canada. The North Cascades Highway is the northernmost road across the Cascade Range in Washington. Conveniently it cuts directly through the North Cascades National Park, the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, and many other wilderness areas. The hiking is fantastic and the views are stunning. I have named this travel report after the North Cascades Highway or State Route (SR) 20 in Washington to represent my key activities along the route versus within one specific wilderness area.
